Crowd favorite John Daly has been suspended from the PGA Tour, yet again, hoping his suspension ends in May 2009.
Winner of the 1991 PGA Championship has has a few insidents, including appearing drunk outside of Hooters in Winston-Salem, S.C., and a sudden split with swing coach Butch Harmon after reappearing with John Gruden (Tampa Bay Buckaneers coach) as his caddie after a tournament rain delay.
Daly was quoted saying "This is the lowest I've ever been," and believes his "unwelcome publicity" is the reason for his suspension. Ty Votaw, PGA Tour spokesman declined to comment, citing the PGA Tour's policy of not discussing penalties of players.
With as much negative press as he's been getting, Daly still plans on playing overseas, hoping to play well enough to earn sponsor exemptions
when the suspension is over. "There's always light with me. Right now, my home tour is probably Europe. And I love the European tour. I always have. But my home is the United States. That's where I would rather play."
